I can't believe it's finally Christmas!! It just seems like yesterday when I had celebrated Christmas with this group of long-time friends and we'll be celebrating it again for the 4th time! Time surely flies extra fast when you're having fun and I am sure having a blast this 2011! Imagine being able to attend the weddings some of my good friends, spending more time with my family, loved ones and friends, together with a million of travel trips and a whole lot more! Live the moment as i always say. Honestly, what's more can i ask for in life, right? :-) A pre-shot of all my X'mas presents to be given to everyone at the lunch gathering. This year's Xmas gathering for this group of friends was chosen to be hald at The Orange Thimble, located at No. 56 Eng Hoon Street, right in the lovely Tiong Bahru estate. It is actually located at a row of old and conserved shophouses with many quaint cafes and appealing shops popping up. Some of you may be curious to know why this cafe is being named as the Orange Thimble. I heard that The Orange Thimble got its name from its previous tenant, a sewing supplies shop proffering everything form buttons to threads and of course, thimbles. In fact some of the old equipment and signage remain, giving this space a nice retro vibe. Thimble is actually a small cap, made of either rubber or metal, worn over the fingertip to protect it when pushing a needle through cloth in sewing. I bet most of the people of my age may not even know what a thimble is. I, too, thought it was a type of wood initially. (do not laugh) But it ain’t surprising though, because not many from my generation know anything about sewing. Art pieces from its neighbour, White Canvas Gallery, which features works from emerging artists in the region, adorn the walls. I particularly like one of their tagline and that's 'Wear a Thimble to protect yourself from the little pricks in life. Hope all of you can have some time soon again to drop by with a book and spend a whole afternoon there to get away from the little pricks in life. Some shots of the presents being given, i must say that some of the X'mas wrappers are really very creatively done-up, especially Xiao Fan's. Above are all the X'mas presents that i have received! I like all of them, thanks so much ! :-) I shall go down the list one by one - Xiao Fan with her presents received with everyone. June with her presents received from everyone. Christina with her presents received from everyone. Meiling with her presents received from everyone. She looked 'classic' in that show with the Coach bag! Both Chris and Cat were the organisers for this year's X'mas gathering and sometimes, things in life are really pre-destined. They drew lots and ended up being the organisers for next year's X'mas gathering again! Well, i suppose both of them are very happy to be (judging from the beaming looks above). Thanks for organising!! :-) Always not forgetting to take a group shot, from left to right: Me, Yujie, Cat & her girl, Sabrina, Sijie, Xiao Fan, June, Christina, Meiling, Ade & her girl, En En.
I'm glad that we all took time out of our crazy schedule to bond and to celebrate Christmas together. It has been a 'tradition' since 2008 and we have been meeting faithfully for the past 4 years. It is an annual event which I always look forward to and one that i enjoy so much. For this is the one event that brings deep joys and connections to all of us. Over the years, there have been big changes in all our lives. People come and go – that is a nature progression of things. Some bonds were strengthen and others waiting for a chance to be reconnected. To me, Friends are the next most important asset, aside to Family. They are the ones who see me through all main stages of my life – from my teens, to graduation day, to my career, now to my photography world...I sincerely wish all of my friends a good festive season! Merry Christmas and happy holidays! And to all who read my blog so faithfully. :-)
