为了发掘和收集牛车水往日的回忆,新加坡传统文化学 Singapore Heritage Society 会主办了《光影纪实:牛车水旧事新说》活动。一组来自不同背景和年龄层的公众,三个月内在牛车水穿街走巷拍摄照片,通过聆听讲座和参观会馆等活动,酝酿出各自的摄影小品。现在他们每个人所创作的牛车水故事,已经在网络上发布 http://picturingchinatown.com。其中三位参与者:林伟智、张楷玲 (我本人)、张兴根的摄影小品,也正在草根书室展出。我们刚过的星期天在草根书室分享会上,述说如何以图片及文字描绘牛车水。 当天的气氛太棒了,草根书室坐满了,我在此表示衷心的感谢!在场的人在百忙之中,抽出宝贵时间来听我们的故事,可见他们对牛车水非常有兴趣,也是对我们对这项活动的支持! I was so moved when I saw the crowd! One of the bosses of Grassroots Book Room - Mr Lin 林仁余! 我名叫张楷玲,是一位自由身摄影师兼写作人,通过纪实摄影来记录个人生活经历与记忆。我为《光影纪实:牛车水旧事新说》定下的目标,就是在讲述牛车水人物故事的当儿,能够对人类的特性有深入的领悟。 Thanks so much to all these friends who helped to take photographs of the speakers (including me) at the talk! I was the second speaker in line. Frankly, I was quite nervous while sharing about my experiences on interviewing the elders doing the vanishing trades but still, it all went well in the end! Thanks to the support of the audience! The Emcee for the Picturing Chinatown Project - Louise who gave a very wonderful introduction on this meaningful project! 林美兰: 退休老师,一个土生土长的新加坡人,对于牛车水不能吸引本地人到访的现况,感到无奈,希望能借《光影纪实:牛车水旧事新说》的摄影小品抛砖引玉,让更多人加入推动与关注历史的行列. The first speaker - Mr Chong Shin Kian who shared stories on his growing up years in Chinatown! 张兴根:61岁的土木工程师,喜爱到处猎影,很享受在牛车水的探索,并为自己有机会重新认识牛车水,尤其它独特的一面而感到欣慰。 The third speaker - Mr Andrew Lin who talked about soon-to-be disappearing local yummy food in Chinatown! 林伟智:40多岁的狂热探索者,热切地探险着古老的历史,传统的食物等等。身为一名武吉布朗坟场的义务导游,他有很多关于新加坡先驱的故事可与大家分享。他也热爱大自然,遗憾的是,许多他热爱的地方都在等着被拆毁的名单上。 Thanks to all of Picturing Chinatown teammates for the hard work and effort! This project is such a big success! I am so heartened that we are all so easily able to communicate and work with each other so comfortably to create these valuable pieces of documentary work!
