Every time when you hear about Starbucks Coffee, perhaps you will only think that it is just another franchise store which serve the same decoration everywhere globally. Although I could walk into any Starbucks in Singapore to get my coffee, I love checking out the more unique branches which can be found in other countries.
Last year, I shared with all of you the most unique Starbucks in the world, located on Duddell Street in Hong Kong (see link here). In May this year, I visited another concept retro-vintage concept Starbucks in Hong Kong located on Sai Yee Street, mirroring 1940’s Hong Kong style cafe opened on Duddell Street. Just like the Duddell Street Outlet, this is also a collaboration with G.O.D; the inspiration for the store concept is to celebrate the artistic spirit of Hong Kong especially movies which had helped Hong Kong become the Hollywood of the east.

I love the huge mural artwork on the EAST WEST DESIGN building in South Fremantle in my recent trip to Perth Western Australia. They have become some of the most talked about artworks in town, and for a good reason - they are spectacular.
If you spend any time at all in Fremantle then you might have noticed the exotic shop-fronts painted over the bland warehouse wall by the EAST WEST DESIGN furniture market. This shop is a little out of the way - I discovered it by accident when I was a little bit lost. But I was glad I stumpled upon it, because it's really cool! It's a home design store inside a big warehouse, and the whole thing is arranged like the biggest and best living room ever. The huge mural is the largest in Fremantle I believe and has got so many cute details that one can spend half an hour there discovering more quirky things. A great start to a happy week! My photo essay on "Art Jamming 周末假期体验即兴艺术创作" is published in today's Lianhe Zaobao 联合早报《缤纷》newspaper dated 14 September 2015!
Thrilled to see it being featured nationwide in print! Special thanks to Lianhe Zaobao, zbNOW/早报现在, you have made my day! 感谢、感恩! http://lifestyle.omy.sg/Lifestyle/Arts/Out-of-the-Box/story20150916-373635 When one speaks of Osaka, many people recall the huge Glico billboard and the giant crab sign with moving legs. These symbols of Osaka are located around the Dotonbori River in Namba district. Dotonbori is full of flashing neon flights and shoppers, and a Ferris wheel can also be found overhead, as though a theme park had suddenly appeared in the street.
One can surely be mesmerized by the masses of neon lights, labyrinthine of streets with multi colored shops including pachinkos, karaokes, drug stores, boutiques, souvenirs shops to restaurants that cater to all kinds of demand. The street is always full of noise, full of light, full of energy. Dotonbori is the heart and soul of Osaka, a street that never sleeps. Osaka is known as the food haven of Japan- especially here in Dotonbori, come and experience “Kuidaore”, literally meaning eat till you drop. From the takoyaki stands to the okonomiyaki restaurants, you can never get enough of the gastronomy galore here. I totally agreed. When I arrived in Osaka, I was so overwhelmed with all the neon lights. At night, the whole city looks like it has been lined in neon. Even the supermarkets, rival the pachinko parlors with flashing displays and lights galore. My photo essay on Vanishing Trades in Picturing Chinatown 《光影纪实: 牛车水旧事新说》is featured in it! Feeling so accomplished! Thanks so much to Singapore Heritage Soceity and the rest of Picturing Chinatown project mates! I feel so accomplished :)
