Am on a movie craze this month, watched several shows that caught my attention and most of them worth having great reviews ! :-) Watched "Salt", who is Salt actually? If twisty-turny action-thrillers starring Angelina Jolie are your cup of tea, then you are in luck for that's exactly what this movie is all about. From start to finish, Salt is the very definition of a solid popcorn movie - fast, exciting, suspenseful, and most important, smart. Go catch Angelina Jolie in action! As Agent Salt. Snapped some cover pictures of latest magazines featuring Angelina Jolie. "The Last Airbender" is a story about a world that has lost its balance and the saga of those attempting to gain absolute power and others whose goal is to rebalance it. I would say that this movie is probably one of the most spiritually minded blockbusters of the year with aspects of tai chi, harmony, astral planes and meditation practiced throughout the film. I don’t know if it will get more kids into the yoga studios but i am encouraged that there is a big budget flick that put these kinds of ideals at the forefront. If you could blend awkward relationships, quirky humor and upbeat guitar-and-fiddle music with stunning shots of urban Taiwan, you will get a taste of what Au Revoir Taipei (一頁台北) is all about. This movie is thoroughly entertaining and although it's nominally a love story, the movie never takes itself too seriously. Love in disguise (恋爱通告) is Wang Leehom’s 王力宏first attempt at directing a movie. Prior to this movie direction, his only experience is directing his own music videos, which are of a totally different league and agenda as this rom-com. And though his experience in the field of acting is rather bare, he has actually succeeded in delivering this movie. The main plot in this movie is probably somewhat familiar. It's a star’s over-glamorised life. As confessed by 王力宏 himself, he got the idea from observations and his own experience in the entertainment industry. So as boy meets girl, boy is confused with how he feels and then finally realizes that he is in love… so on and so forth, are also presented in a relatively new manner.

I made a personal trip down to the office embassy of Poland located at Wisma Atria to submit some shots for the 'Sounds & Colours - Chopin in Singapore' Photo Competition. Chose to submit by hand instead of mail and went during lunchtime since it's at town area...The competition is organised by The Embassy of the Republic of Poland, Halina & Miroslaw Pienkowski (donors of the Chopin monument), the Photographic Society of Singapore and the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The embassy office is located on the 17th floor and these are some of the shots taken at the Poland Embassy Office upon submission. Of course i sought permission from the person-in-charge first before taking photographs. Took a shot of my submissions. The photo competition theme was “Capture, in a scene in Singapore, the colourful emotions Chopin’s music evokes in its listeners and admirers”. Above of two of my submitted photos for the competition. Happened to pass by at the outdoor theatre of Esplanade one evening after dining with friends and saw this guy performing Chopin music. I took out my camera straightaway and snapped several shots. Victoria Concert Hall, just before Pietro De Maria's great performance. Happened to find this Chopin monument, located just south of Symphony Lake at Singapore Botanical Gardens.
Never felt so 'patrotic' in my life until i passed by the Padang area just a few days before the National Day Paradee celebrations. Therefore, i stopped by to take some shots of the venue. Before that, i have already taken some shots of the Fremason Hall (Fire Station) and the scenic Coleman Rise street leading to Fort Canning Park, i simply love those photos taken in black & white !!! Right after Padang, i proceeded to Esplanade and One Fullerton where the Merlion Park is located. Have never really seen the Merlion, though i vaguely remember seeing it once when my Dad brought me there when i was a small kid. I love these black & white shots, yeah !!! :-) Walking down on a memory lane.... Went in to the recent newly-opened Fullerton Bay Hotel, wow, its looks so grand !!! These two signages are located just outside Esplanade, find them quite interesting, so therefore snap, snap....
I started walking alongside Singapore River early in the morning, when the light was still merciful, and when the heat was still pleasant, without opporessing humidity that makes walking a sweaty experience later on during the day. The surface of Singapore River was very quiet, and the surroundings were reflected perfectly in the still waters. I followed a bicyle/pedestrian path which was almost completely empty at this time of the day, and i stopped at some of the small, futuristic bridges spanning the Singapore River. A small boat was breaking the spell of the tranquil waters, causing small waves to crush on the river banks. Elgin Bridge at Singapore River. I simply love taking black & white photos !!!

3 hours after my nature walk at Kranji Reservoir, i was asked out by my friends to go for a 'cultural' revisit at National Museum and the Singapore Art Museum. This is actually my second visit to the museum in the same month. Was there a few weeks ago for the Night Festival 2010. That was a yearly event, held over 2 nights - Friday & Saturday, from 7pm to 2am. Actually i don't mind going to the museum often, in fact i like doing so because there is always new stuff to look at in the museum. And of course, always able to find new 'places' and 'angles' to snap in the museum, hee hee... On our way to the museum from Illuma Shopping Mall(bcos the car was parked at Illuma carpark), we discovered this unique building near Waterloo Street, so went inside to take a look.
Woke at 6am in order to reach Kranji by 7am to catch sunrise. There is a Kranji Reservoir Park next to the dam where you can relax and view beautiful scenery of the surroundings, including the Straits of Johor. From here, you can also look directly across to Johor state in Malaysia. The Kranji Reservoir is one of the biggest reservoir formed by damming of the Kranji River. There is a road on the dam itself where you can drive across this big reservoir which dominates the landscape, and you can park at the carpark near the dam to explore the surroundings. I have always liked to take scenic landscape shots, these are some of the many scenic shots taken at Kranji Reservoir, a very fruitful trip, yeah ! These are the homeless people in Singapore, no where to stay but in a public park. The sunrise at Kranji was so breathtaking !! Saw these 'skyscraper' construction tower cranes on my way back to Kranji station.
