Spent 2D1N at Malacca over the weekend. Every weekend or any public holiday, Malacca town is forever seriously jam-packed because of the out station’s and Singaporeans’ cars flocking to the same restaurants and tourist attraction spots using the same road like every other road users, causing traffic jam and long queues at every possible places.

Went to Food Junction at Bugis Junction Mall for lunch -had a craving for Korean food. I always enjoy eating Korean food (very slup-able food), especially kimchi!! When most people think of Korean food, they think of kimchi, Korea's staple side dish which, along with rice, accompanies almost every meal. Although it is an acquired taste, many long-term foreigners also find themselves missing the flavor of kimchi if they have too many meals without it. While many Korean dishes are unfamiliar at first, they are not really that different from some Westermany meals without it. While many Korean dishes are unfamiliar at first, they are not really that different from some Western foods. I ordered a bowl of Korean kim chi noodles and TASTY !! It totally whets my appetite and is lovely on a cool day or in an air-conditioned restaurant of course !! It's actually a quick and easy Korean noodle recipe recipe that never fails to disappoint Korean food lovers.
This famous China Square Fried Fish Soup stall has relocated to Tanjong Pagar MRT Station from China Square Foodcourt early last year. I was there for lunch to try it out on their speciality dish - Shredded Omelette in Fish Soup - and turned out to be still yummylicious as ever !!! Their recipes haven't changed since the stall was established way back in 1983, starting its first stall at Garden Street, followed by at the old Blanco Court, then to China Square Food Court and its now at Tanjong Pagar Xchange. What you'll get for S$5, for instance, is a large bowl of firm thick bee hoon (as seen in these pics) in super clear soup that tastes best when spiked with lots of cut chilli. There are pieces of freshly fried fish and strands of that yummy golden omelette in it, which the owner claims that it is made with a 'secret seasoning inside the eggs'. WOW !!!
We are just about slightly more than a month away from our favourite Christmas !!! I found this X'mas tree outside United Square Shopping Mall & i like it very much because there are gingerbread men in the tree decoration. I know that the gingerbread man has a long history in Europe, where he appeared as a Christmas tree decoration and in elaborate holiday scenes. The gingerbread man often had a gingerbread house to live in, with gingerbread animals, trees, and decorations made from candies and icing. Especially in Germany, gingerbread Christmas decorations are often quite elaborate, stemming from a 16th century tradition of fanciful gingerbread creations, popularized by Grimm's Fairy Tales and the story of Hansel and Gretel. OK, by now, you should know very well that i love to take black & white (Monochrome) photographs. Even shot in black and white mode, i can totally feel the warmth of the X'mas season from this tree displayed in Mphosis boutique shop.
It's out for sale in Singapore !!! As usual every year end, i will get it from Orchard Tangs store. Evian the french water bottler has successfully carved out a niche following for their water, releasing designer collector bottles every year. This year, Issey Miyake has followed in the footsteps of other fashion designers in designing a pattern on a limited edition glass bottle for evian water. Christian Lacroix was the first designer, then Jean-Paul Gaultier and Paul Smith followed in successive years and now Issey Miyake has designed a pattern for evian to commemorate the year end as well.
"Best of Me" by Daniel Powter. Play it. Lyrics of "Best Of Me" by Daniel Powter
I was made the wrong way Won't you do me the right way? Where you gonna be tonight cause i won't stay too long? Maybe you're the light for me When you talk to me it strikes me Won't somebody help me 'cause i don't feel too strong? Was it something that i said was it something that i did Or the combination of both that did me end? You know i'm hoping you'll sing along Though it's not your favorite song Don't wanna be the wind There's nothing left to say You know that some of us spin again And when you do you need a friend Don't wanna be the wind There's nothing left for me And i hate the thought of finally being erased Baby that's the best of me Everything's behind you But the hopeless stands besides you Living in the moment Have i wasted all your time? Was it something that i said was it something that i did Or the combination of both that did me end? You know i'm hoping you'll sing along Though it's not your favorite song Don't wanna be the wind There's nothing left to say You know that some of us spin again And when you do you need a friend Don't wanna be the wind There's nothing left for me And i hate the thought finally being erased But baby that's the best of me yeah Baby that's the best of me You know i'm hoping you'll sing along Though it's not your favorite song Don't wanna be the wind There's nothing left to say You know that some of us spin again And when you do you need a friend Don't wanna be the wind There's nothing left for me And i hate the thought finally being erased Baby that's the best of me It has come to that point again. The point you get bored with the predictability of franchises. Aren't we all sick of Ajisen Ramen? While it is quite alright, it isn't exciting anymore. And not to mention that I have suspicions of it being an authentic Japanese restaurant. So it is time to venture to the unknown (somewhat) and it's nice to try out independent places where ramen is prepared by a Japanese or at least with the Japanese spirit of quality sells better, where you can taste the pride of producing something of true quality, with absolutely no MSG. That's exactly what this little shop boasts of its soup bases, which takes many hours to achieve the perfection of robust flavour that won't leave a heavy feeling. So well made is the bowl of ramen that this place doesn't sell any other variety of ramen. The only other way is to zhng your ramen is with their additional toppings/condiments. It's one of the long-surviving ramen stall in Singapore, right in the heart of Orchard Road ! :-) Speaking of toppings and condiments, you can sort of determine the origins of the shop and thus its authenticity of being truly Japanese by the condiments, particularly the stewed egg. Halve an egg from authentic ramen restaurants and you will see the difference in the yolk, which retains its gooey form compared to the hard solid texture found from Ajisen.
The char siew here is also very good. Cooked till soft and tender, the meat comes apart easily and melts in your mouth. Snapped some breathtaking sunset shots at home. I always enjoy watching sunrise & sunset. Know what you want to do, hold the thought firmly and do every day what should be done and every sunset will see you that much nearer to your goal. Lost, yesterday, somewhere between sunrise and sunset, two golden hours, each set with sixty diamond minutes. No reward is offered for they are gone forever. I fully understand that one can't recapture what you have missed. The present is more important. There is this chinese saying: 选择放下就能活在当下.
My colleague gave me a free lunch treat at this Taiwanese eatery located at 8 Shenton Way (formerly Temasek Tower). I must say that the food was really very yummy !!! This meal reminded me of my fun days at Taipei when i was there last year, i miss their food, the shopping & the people. 数百种台湾美食, 台湾小吃,到台湾旅游,吃什么好,哪里吃,就在台湾美食 !!!
Received a FOC ticket to watch "Voyage de la Vie" at Resorts World Sentosa !!! It is a theatrical rock circus created by an international creative team and also Resorts World's resident theatre show.
“Voyage de la Vie” means “journey of life” & is about the story of a boy’s metaphoric journey, or a rite of passage before he becomes an adult. Great performance !! :-) This Chinese Garden was built in 1975 and designed by a well-known architect from Taiwan and its concept is based on Chinese gardening art. What i like about this garden is the integration of splendid architectural features with the natural environment. The whole garden is modeled along the northern Chinese imperial style of architecture and landscaping. For those who are not aware, this garden is located next to Chinese Garden MRT Station & connected to the adjacent Japanese Garden by a bridge.
