Almost every capital in Europe has its own wax museum and Prague is no exception. I got the opportunity of a lifetime, to see some of my most famous celebrities under one roof in my recent trip to Prague. Well, they were all in wax form, but it was still fun to see them up close and personal. I went to the Prague Wax Museum and I had a blast seeing all of the wax figures. Most of the wax figures were spot on. And of course don’t worry, you do not have to like movies or celebrities in order to admire this museum. Although it does help to compare the real thing to their wax double, just by seeing how they recreated these people and how spot on they got it was much amazing.
The first Wax Museum in Prague was opened in the 1997, in the presence of many representatives from politics and culture. The museum quickly became very popular as a place to "see" more than 50 characters from the worlds of politics, culture and sport. Sometimes it is difficult to tell if you are standing beside the actual person or is it really just a wax figure. So you have to visit the museum personally to meet, and get up close to some famous Czechs from the past like Art Nouveau painter Alfons Mucha, or modern day international figures like the Dalai Lama or even Elton John, Michael Jackson, just to name a few. The life-size wax figures are crafted by leading local and overseas sculptors. Each wax figure is amazingly life-like dressed in authentic and accurately recreated costumes.

As today is Thanksgiving, a holiday based on the concept of gratitude, i want to express my deep gratitude to those of you who have supported and encouraged my photography work in these few years. Your letters, comments on my blog and even the “likes” that affirm your appreciation for what i am doing - they all mean a great deal to me. I am genuinely thankful for my opportunity to share my thoughts and photo work with all of you. More than merely appreciating my blessings, it is important to use them in a correct way. This can only truly determine as to how thankful i am. Happy Thanksgiving Day!
With heartfelt thank you, Jennifer Teo. Another happy day! One of my photo essays on my recent trip to Prague's Strahov Monastery in last month has been published in today's MyPaper 《我报》 newspapers! Such a magical city like Prague has a lot to offer for anyone, whatever their cultural interests. This is especially true for anyone that has more than a passing interest for music: from fantastic opera halls with vibrant acoustics to modern halls hosting gigs and performances of contemporary music artists. But besides the established places there is, in Prague, another prominent venue where you can assist to interesting performances: the streets. As you walk trough some narrow alleys in the heart of the Old Town, you will often encounter musicians, mimes and other kind of artists.
Prague established itself as one of the cultural centers in Europe, being a fertile soil for all types of talents. Such a flourishing artistic environment still keeps attracting musicians and performers from all over the world. They offer nice cultural touch to favorite tourist spots and bring life to wonderful city of Prague. The Vrtba Garden in Prague dates back to the beginning of the 18th century. Quite difficult to find, the Vrtba Garden is hidden behind an unnoticeable gate. This Italian-style terraced Baroque garden is a quiet oasis in the center of the Prague city and is situated on the slope of Petrin Hill. It is one of the most precious and beautiful of Prague's Baroque gardens. Vrtba Garden is also listed in UNESCO as a protected monument.
It is a pretty small place but you can find there everything what you expect from precious Baroque garden - elegant staircases, decorated banisters, terraces, statues, flower beds and hedges. This place is enclosed by tall walls and blocks out the bustling city outside - it is a true place of relaxation. Whether you are looking to explore an unique Prague attraction, or in need of a quiet refuge for reading, the Vrtba Garden is definitely something that you do want to miss out when visiting this city. The fact that the garden lies on a slope makes it attractive for yet another reason - from the Vrtba Garden there are magnificent views of Prague Castle and the Little Quarter including view of the St Nicholas Church. The Vrtba Garden offer charms which are definitely worth checking out. Strahov Monastery At Captivating Prague In Czech Republic 捷克布拉格古美浪漫之旅 (世界最壮观最美丽图书馆之一, 斯特拉霍夫修道院图书馆)3/11/2013 Library is a place of silence and concentration. It is almost a sacred place for those, who not only love books, but also draw as much as possible for them. The incredible aura surrounding libraries comes from the silence and concentration that simply is there. But communing with culture in form of hundreds of books of classic writers, contemporary authors and all whose effort was changed from a thought to written word is for some people a very important experience.
Not far from Prague Castle lies the Strahov Monastery, founded in the 12th century. The beautiful Strahov Monastery, which sits on a hill overlooking the city of Prague, was one of my favorite stops when i visited Prague. The Strahov Monastery has stood below the Petrin Hill in the vicinity of Prague Castle for more than 850 years. The monastery's main attraction for visitors today, though, is the Library - one of the most beautiful an extensive in the country. The collection was established at the time of the foundation over 800 years and the two halls on view to the public now house some 130,000 volumes, while a further 700,000 volumes are in storage. They are breathtaking in their beauty. |
