Sandy is a good friend of mine, who in this guest blog post claims not to be a runner, however I am going to have to disagree with her on that one. She is built like a runner and lean, also knows how to make it look damn easy. I am excellent at making it look excruciating. :-) She went for the annual Standard Chartered Marathon over the last weekend with one of her university friends named Maesy and seemed like both of them had a great time running a 42-km marathon together, judging from the photo below! Both of them felt good and were determined to run this marathon together. Perharps for some of it, Sandy led a bit. For some others, her friend Maesy led a bit. Regardless, they promised each other to run together. And they did. I suppose it was really enjoyable to run just to spend time with a nice friend and enjoy the crowd support together - with no time goal in mind.
I think that it is important to run smart, especially when training for longer distances. If you are running often, make sure you include some strength and core training a couple of times a week with your training. Also include variety such as some cycling, swimming or yoga. My only exercise is going around taking photographs, simply because I love doing it and I do not have the desire to do other types of physical activity. This seems like a good philosophy. Hi Sandy & Maesy: Thanks for sharing some of your road with me. When you were on the road, did you think that the world is just you against the road? I guess every bit of the 42-km of it. But hey, isn’t most of life is like that? It should be just you against the world. Go for it! And wish you good luck in the next marathon. :-)
