As we are near year-end, many of us take stock of times past and think of the promise of better times in the future. It is a time to think of what each of us could do to help make the next year a better one. I do feel like the end of the year is always a good time to take a step back from day-to-day life and think about all the people who have made a difference in my life. We often forget about all the people who have enabled us to get to where we are today who really believed in us, the great friends who are still with us. It is just a really rare circumstance where you truly get to know people at a level that doesn't happen in everyday life. I believe that the people we associate with as mentors and friends in life play a big part in determining the person we will become. They help form our character. That's why it is so important to surround ourselves with people who have the qualities we want to emulate in our lives. I know that i would not be the person i am today if i had not been surrounded by amazing people who taught me how to be a better person with their example. I have been incredibly blessed to befriend some that are incredibly good people. I have always wanted to have a memory that I can always look back on and to meet someone who had inspired me to be larger than life. For the first time ever in my blog, i decided to offer deep gratitude to each of the following extraordinary people who've had a significant impact on my life so far:
a) Role models/Mentors: The late Mr Lim C.P, Mr Yeap S.A, Mr Jeremy L, Mr Kamal H and Mr Chia W.K. b) Best Buddies: Doraine, Audrey, Joanne, Irene, Sijie, Tracy, Charmaine, Kang, Angie, K.P, Gina, Corrina, Selina, Marie & family and Daphne. c) Special thanks to Joseph. I have seen firsthand the impact good friends can have in our lives. Perhaps in the coming new year we could all evaluate the relationships we have in our lives and seek to surround ourselves by those people who build us up and help us be better people. Then we should all make it our goal to be the friend we can be to those in our lives through sincerity, genuine listening and being positive and uplifting at all times. Life is fragile and we never know just how long our own time on this earth will extend. It is my hope that we would each take the opportunity this week to thank each person who makes a difference in our lives. But then it is my hope that we won’t wait another year to extend that thanks, but that we will all make an effort to do it on a regular basis so that if our own time on this earth were to come to an unexpected end, we would be at peace knowing that we had expressed our gratitude and thanks to all of those who have made a difference in our lives. Hence, here's my heartfelt "thank you" to all of you who have given me your support in whatever way and for being a part of my life. As we embark on a new year, I hope your new year is filled with positivity and love, not forgetting to enjoy life as much as we can!
