In 2012, Esplanade commemorates its 10th Anniversary in service to our community with the theme "Celebrating Life - The Best of The Human Spirit Through the Arts". One of the programmes lined up in the year or in the month of March with much anticipation is the Mosaic Music Festival. Mosaic Music Festival is an annual 10-day long music festival in Singapore that features both local and overseas acts. It showcases a variety of music genres, ranging from indie-folk to hip-hop. It aims to provide a platform for interaction between Singapore and International artistes. The team behind Mosaic expanded its jazz and world-music repertoire to include folk and rock acts. The aim is to cater to all age groups with a range of music, from experimental to jazz to classical. And it is not just about showcasing the music. The Esplanade also hopes to provide opportunities for audiences to get to know the artists and their personalities. Mosaic Music Festival 2012 kicked off on the 9th March and will end on the 18th. I attended the Australian band performance last evening by Murder Mouse Blues Band. Murder Mouse Blues Band was founded in 2008 when the creative forces of singer / author and songwriting giant Adam Morris combined with multi-instrumentalist / composer / producer Jon Edwards. Together with drumming master, Warren Hall, the band has quickly become a national force in Australian music known for their unpredictable live shows. The Murder Mouse Blues band members do not possess the looks of male models in ads. They look like guys that you might meet in the everyday life -which is part of their appeal. Warren Hall as the Drummer and Jon Edwards as the Guitarist and Vocalist. Adam Morris - Guitarist and Vocalist. The Murder Mouse Blues band's songs and their stage performances display an ability to relate to average people who don't possess the money to fly to exotic resorts but, who live day to day, sometimes dealing with difficult circumstances. These performers represent success that can be achieved by those willing to work hard in pursuing their dreams without compromising their values. I was truly touched by Murder Mouse Blues band great performance at the Singapore Mosaic Music Festival, thumbs up!! :-)
Music has the ability to generate a sense of release and relaxation as well as bring people together, regardless of differences. We turn to music, we need it, because of its ability to move us, to induce feelings and moods, states of mind. In the individual with an open heart and mind, music can encourage a quiet attention, an awareness of the self and its place in the world, a reaching within and beyond the self to embrace humanity and all life. Music in all forms is perhaps the most magical and meaningful creation in our history.
