After a three-year hiatus, the HKWALLS street art festival returned for its 8th edition in March 2023 — this time in the Central and Western Districts. This year featured an incredible line-up of talented street artists from Hong Kong and abroad. By way of background, HKWALLS is a non-profit art organisation that aims to create opportunities for artists to showcase their talents in Hong Kong and internationally.
Other accidental new finds in Central and Sheung Wan - they have been Hong Kong’s most dynamic districts, known for their lively street art scene and rich cultural heritage. These areas boast a colorful collection of murals and graffiti, reflecting the city’s fusion of traditional and modern influences.
Ever since Hong Kong lifted all its travel restrictions, the eyes of the art world turned to Hong Kong as color, creativity, and vibrancy descended upon the city for the arts and culture scene. If you are a fan of street art, you are more than welcome to visit these mural sites. It is even a greater opportunity if you can meet the artists in person and get a sense of how they make their work and the creative process behind it.
