River Hongbao takes place every year, in line with Chinese New Year, where it brings out the highlights of a traditional Chinese Festival. River Hongbao 2012 lights up the modern cityscape of Marina Bay in a customary celebration of Chinese New Year. In a city where East meets West and modernity meets tradition, it is an experience that bridges the past and the present. River Hongbao has come quite a long way since its maiden event in the 1980s. Over the years, River Hongbao has transformed and changed a lot, getting more grand and implementated more programs, activities and performances. River Hongbao is a fun event that helps to promote the festive Chinese New Year season, an appreciation of the CNY culture and traditions. It is a destination for both locals and international visitors to enjoy during this festive season. From spectacular fireworks to heart wrenching movie performances to mouth watering food items, this riverside event has something special for everyone. Often there are displays of the famous characters in Chinese history and culture such as the animals of the Chinese zodiac as well as the God of fortune. The gateway decorated with colorful lanterns.
