Switzerland’s largest city may not have the glamour of Paris, nor the streetwise credibility of London, but Zurich has many other qualities to make anyone love it there. Unlike what many people think, it is not just about finance and fondue. Being in the city makes me feel the famous Swiss quality of life in a metropolis that has everything to not let anyone get bored. Though it has no super famous spot like Big Ben or the Eiffel Tower, the city itself is already a sideshow. Switzerland has those beautiful and bucolic landscapes with lots of parks and lakes living side by side with shopping streets, trendy restaurants, art galleries and other lively places. Although it varies from person to person, Fall is absolutely a great time to visit Switzerland. Typically the colors in Switzerland are the best the middle of October. Zurich is covered in fall foliage and strolling the streets of Zurich is even more fun with all the natural colours. If only there was a way to take a piece of this beauty back to Singapore. Walking along the river Limmat through Zurich’s old town is like strolling through a history book that has come alive. In the greatest Swiss style, the lakes are part of Zurich landscape. Walking around the city, you will find beautiful landscapes surrounding Lake Zurich and many green areas. Another beloved viewpoint is in the Old Town of Zurich. Lindenhof, used as a filming location for the Korean drama Crash Landing On You, is a pretty hilltop square that offers sublime vistas. In autumn, the tree leaves turn a brilliant yellow, bathing the square in a bright hue. From the square, visitors will be able to see the Old Town, Grossmünster Church, City Hall, the Limmat River, the university and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (also known as ETH). Lindenhof is also steeped in history: In the fourth century, a Roman fort stood here, while in the ninth century, the grandson of Charlemagne built a stately palace on the site. In the first official teaser of the Korean drama "Crash Landing on You", Yoon Se-ri stands on the Munsterbrucke staring longingly into the horizon. The next time we catch a glimpse of it is in Episode 16 where Se-ri crosses the bridge several times looking for Ri Jeong-hyeok. Lindenhof is seen in the opening scene as Se-ri and Ri Jeong-hyeok walk past each other. It is also seen in Episode 16 where Se-ri hears somebody playing the piano and goes looking for him hoping he is Ri Jeong-hyeok. Lindenhof is a historic public square in the heart of Zurich. It portrays a great view of the historical architectural wonders of Zurich including the Munsterbrucke. Lindenhof is a short 8-minute walk from Zurich Main Station. This is the most famous shopping street of the city - Bahnhofstrasse. A part of it is exclusively for pedestrians and trams. You will find shops of familiar brands around and it’s as good as other better known shopping streets worldwide like the Fifth Avenue (New York), the Saint Honoré (Paris) or the Kings Road (in London). The more south you are on Bahnhofstrasse, the most exclusive shops are. The clothes and accessories are only one aspect of Bahnhofstrasse. Galleries, restaurants, luxurious cafes and bars flank the entire length of the street. Public transport in the city is extremely efficient. Zurich is covered by trams, trains, buses and boats. The best option is using the trams inside the city once some areas of Bahnhofstrasse are exclusive for this kind of transportation and pedestrians. The radiant warm colors of fall paired with cool temperatures makes this city a perfect autumn vacation. Natural beauty, old culture, and a modern vibe: Zurich has it all !
